Confusing a normal striped tie with a regimental tie would be a real mistake: in fact, regimental ties have a very interesting story behind them. The diagonal stripes originally indicated the colours of the military regiment to which it belonged. In 1919, the Prince of Wales visited the United States wearing the regimental tie of his former military unit. Since then, this accessory has symbolised true elegance.
